Set in Bicolandia, this house in Sorsogon offers a mix of a slow-paced home life and a law office opened for the community. The office at the top is connected to the main public road, where people can easily see it, and a house at the bottom, connected to the patio and the surroundings via door-windows that allow ample light to come in and illuminate the interior spaces.
Inspired by Mediterranean sensibilities as a wish from our clients, who love Spanish architecture but also Filipino tropical design, this house merges the traditional and contemporary, creating the perfect modern lifestyle that our clients wished for.
We took advantage of the natural slope of the land. The office above is placed by the road for visibility and easy access for the community. The home is tucked further in, with its own entrance, front yard, and slower pace. The vertical separation of work life and home life is connected by a showcase staircase and a room that blurs the line, made for meeting special guests.
We kept things open and honest, as the clients intended, with bare white walls for future stories and memories. Light and air for comfort. Work-life balance, done the Sorsogon way.
