Situated on once fertile farmlands, this casita started with our client having a vision, a dream to help feed the elderly in the community he wanted to purchase property in. Over time, that vision grew into something more: a working farm, two greenhouses, and a casita where visitors could experience life close to the land and connect with the local elderly community.
Inspired by our client’s life across Southeast Asia, this home fuses Balinese, Thai, and Filipino tropical design. The casita was designed to blur the boundary between indoors and outdoors, reinforcing the sense of openness and connectedness to the landscape. We further extended our respect to the site by keeping a fruiting avocado tree and framing it around a koi pond that leads to the main central room. This is the philosophy of the project, one that connects deeply not only to its surroundings but also to its people.
Every path leads to the gardens. Every corner invites rest, reflection, or meaningful gathering. Every surface has meaning woven into it, from Southeast and East Asian craft pieces to a ceiling of banigs collected from all over the Philippines. It’s a space built with care. A home for guests, and a home for purpose
