Sta. Ana is one of the few parts of Manila that still holds its pre-war soul. The homes, the church, the rhythm of the streets—all quietly remind us of a past that survived. But with rapid development pressing in, the essence of this place feels at risk.
This project began as a thesis but became something more. We mapped the neighborhood, studied the patterns, and listened to the architecture that had stood for generations. From that, we shaped a center for the community. A place for learning, sharing, eating, and simply being. One that connects the church, the river, and the homes around it.
The design is rooted in what’s already there. It’s built for the people who never left. A reminder that heritage is not something to be preserved behind glass, but lived with—quietly, every day.
