Set in the mountains of Batad, Bahay Dap-ay blends traditional Ifugao architecture with thoughtful, sustainable design. Named after the Filipino word for home and the communal space of the Dap-ay, it was imagined as both a shelter and a place for shared experience.
At its center is a circular fire area, surrounded by spaces for rest, conversation, and quiet. The roofs combine thatch and local stone, echoing the UNESCO World Heritage Banaue Rice Terraces that cradle the site and has given this community life for the past centuries. We followed the land’s natural contours, minimizing the footprint and integrating all paths and structures into the surrounding rice fields.
This homestay is a quiet tribute to the strength of the Ifugao people. Built to listen, and to last.
